Seize This Opportunity

All Liberal/Progressive bloggers should seize on this and hammer it home. This is a rare opportunity to show just what a failure Bush has been on the economy.

EXCERPT:

Disappointing job creation figures issued Friday were a sharp blow to President Bush, making it much more difficult for him to argue on the campaign trail that the economy has turned the corner, analysts and pollsters said.

The Labor Department reported Friday that U.S. employers added a meager 32,000 workers to payrolls last month, stunning Wall Street economists who had forecast a gain of 228,000. The department also revised job figures down by 61,000 for May and June.

"This is not good news for the president, especially since his approval ratings on the economy had begun to inch up a little to around 47 or 48 percent," said Andrew Kohut of the Pew Research Center.

"It also comes at a very bad time, just when voters have started to pay closer attention to the conditions they see around them when they consider whether Bush deserves another four years," he said.

Shrub's Freudian Slip

Let's be honest: Obviously, Dubya didn't mean to say the following. Still, these words, as part of a larger address, were uttered by the Commander -in-Thief during a press conference today:

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

Glad the Shrub finally came clean -- even if that wasn't the sentiment he intended to convey. Don't worry, Bushie -- your actions and those of your henchpersons have communicated that message already -- loudly and clearly. How has Dubya and Co. harmed "our country and our people"? Let us count the ways...

Liar Liar

Hey, Bushie -- remember 'thou shalt not bear false witness'? I guess not. Even if every word the Shrub uttered about WMDs and imminent threats had been true, it would change nothing: George W. Bush is a liar.

The Raw Story reports that a recently concluded four-month-long investigation by a Philadelphia researcher proves that Dubya did not complete his Texas Air National Guard stint -- and lied about it.

Convention Diary Now Available

I've compiled the Faithful Correspondent's Convention Diary entries into a single PDF document for easy reading and fond recollection. If you'd like a copy, please let me know via e-mail (mustang_bobby2003 (at) hotmail.com).

In exchange, how about making a contribution to Robin Weirauch, who's running in the 5th district in Ohio? Any amount will do. Of course, if you'd rather support your local Democrats, by all means do so. Or there's the DNC. Anything you do can make the difference.
